AUSTIN, TX - Tattoo artists are reporting a surge in requests for Texas themed ink this week, per sources on the ground across the Lone Star State.

“There has been a huge influx of people coming in here asking for a Texas shaped piece - it’s like a wave, you might even call it a tsunami of folks suddenly eager to flaunt their inner Texan,” said one artist working in a storefront on Austin’s famous Sixth Street.

“Honey, I did like 7 Texas shaped pride flags just last night,” reported another artist in the Oak Lawn neighborhood of Dallas on Thursday morning.

Tattooers caution that the shape of Texas can be tricky to get right - “I don’t mind doing the blocky part at the top, but that pointy part at the bottom gets real iffy, and nobody wants a wonky Texas,” stated an apprentice calling in from a motorcycle rally near Waco.

In addition to the iconic outline of Texas itself, tattoo shops are telling us they are seeing an uptick in requests for Texas flags, bluebonnets, cowboy boots, and longhorn skulls. “I had eight women in here getting matching Texas flag ankle tattoos yesterday,” an artist in Amarillo told us. “They told me they were all public school teachers, and they wanted to commemorate the best week they have had in years.”
