PALO ALTO, CA — Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced a bold new plan that has Silicon Valley buzzing: He intends to buy Facebook and then immediately delete it, "just for fun." In a tweet that has since gone viral, Musk stated, "Thought about buying Facebook. Seems like a laugh. Might delete later. 😂"
The tech mogul's tweet has sparked widespread speculation and amusement across the internet. Inside sources at SpaceX and Tesla reveal that Musk has been toying with the idea for weeks, seeing it as "the ultimate meme."
Facebook employees reportedly entered a state of panic following the tweet, with one anonymous staffer saying, "I can't tell if he's joking or if I need to start updating my LinkedIn profile."
Musk, known for his whimsical approach to business and social media, later elaborated in an interview: "I mean, why not? It's not like people are using Facebook to check up on their exes or argue about politics anymore, right?"
Social media analysts are torn over the potential impact of Musk's latest venture. "On one hand, it could be the end of an era," said one analyst. "On the other hand, it might increase productivity worldwide by at least 70%."
At press time, Musk was seen scrolling through Twitter, possibly searching for his next big purchase. "Twitter's fun, but have you guys ever heard of MySpace?" he mused.
